NAWG’s 2025 Summer Intern

Washington, D.C. (July 23, 2025) – Texas A&M graduate student Jaci Dutton joined the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) as their summer policy intern. Jaci, a native of Sonora, Texas, grew up on a livestock ranch where her passion for agriculture first took root. That early exposure inspired her to pursue a degree in Agricultural Economics and a career in agricultural policy.

Currently pursuing her master’s degree through Texas A&M’s Agricultural and Food Policy Center, Jaci has been deeply involved in campus leadership, including serving as a graduate advisor for AGEC Aggie REPS. Her professional background includes work with the Texas A&M University System Headquarters in the Office of Budgets & Accounting, where she gained valuable insights into the operations of large institutions.

During her internship with NAWG, which concludes in early August, Jaci played a key role in several significant activities, including attending Maryland Commodity Classic, participating in the National Wheat Foundation’s Farm Tour, and representing NAWG in multiple meetings with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

“I am extremely grateful for the time I have spent interning with the National Association of Wheat Growers. This internship has allowed me to gain a deeper appreciation of agricultural policy and the work that goes into creating change that benefits producers,” said Jaci. “I am very excited to be back in D.C. next summer to continue working on agricultural issues, building connections, and advocating for producers. I would like to thank the NAWG staff for their unwavering support and the opportunity to work under their guidance.”

“Jaci has been an outstanding addition to the NAWG team this summer,” said NAWG CEO Chandler Goule. “Her strong work ethic, deep understanding of agricultural issues, and genuine passion for policy made a lasting impact on our organization. We were incredibly fortunate to have her as part of the team, and we’re excited to see the great things she will accomplish in the years ahead.”

Upon completion of her master’s degree in Agricultural Economics through Texas A&M’s Agricultural and Food Policy Center in May of 2027, Jaci plans to return to Washington, D.C. to continue her career in agricultural policy and advocating for farmers and ranchers across the United States.
